This is long long overdue, but I have finally managed to move my slothbutt and edit and post my Taipei vlog for you all on my youtube !
Exciting news (well for me), I was eligible for a custom URL, so I can finally stick my name in. You can now find me at:www.youtube.com/c/JennyjzhouTube
(It's pretty cool right HAHA, oh the perks of having such a generic name)
I'll just talk about a few things I didn't get to squish into my already too long video.
SHOPPING
Unfortunately, I was very disappointed. After hearing so much about how Taipei is all about food (that didn't disappoint) and shopping, and let me tell you, I am VERY good at shopping, I struggled to find something to buy !
I severely underpacked so by the 2nd day I was basically already out of clothes and had to force myself to by something. Luckily I found 2 nice dresses at the markets for around $10-$15 AUD. But when we went to the city centre for Taipei 101, we walked through all the major shopping centres, and both struggled to find anything that tickled our fancy. The fashion here is very different to Western, so that was our first problem, style. Second problem was that the prices were not at all cheap, they were VERY similar to that in China, and for the quality and style we just didn't feel like it was worth it.I also do not recommend buying any international brands, as they are so much more pricier over here. I fell in love with this Kate Spade clutch, only to find that it was around $30-$40AUD more expensive...
CLUBBING
We did manage to have a crazy girls' night, but clubbing here is one and the same as Shanghai clubbing (a lot of clubs even had the same names). So if you like your private tables, champagnes, small dance floor clubs then you'll like this. But us being Aussie girls, we just wanted to dance around and have some fun !
We ended up at the shopping centre ATT 4 FUN, it has a few levels of clubs so you can just hop about, and if they realise you're an international, you'll get in for free woo (werk dem English skills).
We went to Spark, Myst I think and another one, they're all one on top of the other and quite big, but FULL of tables.

Taipei was a fun escape for 3 days. Especially coming from such hectic cities like Hong Kong and Shanghai, Taipei's calm and uncluttered atmosphere and polite locals, was a breath of fresh air to us.
I feel like we saw all that we wanted to see within the 3 days, but it would have been nice to stay a night in Jiufen Old Town and wake up to that mesmerising blue sea, green tree view !
I know Taiwan has a lot of other places to offer and we really have just seen the peak of it. This city was heavily influenced by Japanese culture as well as mixing with more Western aspects than China does, so you get a little bit of everything!

Hope you enjoy the video and let me know if you've been to Taipei as well and what you got up to, or what your favourite Street food was (omnomnomnom)
