Yong Green Food
421 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy VIC
"Food for sustainability"
Do you guys still remember my review on another fellow Brunswick St. healthy eatery...Vegie Bar?
Well this place has quite a similar taste palette and vibe, but more like it's little sister, in my opinion. Like Lizzie Olsen is to Mary Kate & Ashley, but nothing short of being just as delicious and amazing !
The whole setting was so cute as well, very green and fun wall paintings and it's quite an intimate setting, just a few stores down from N2 !
I was keen to go for a while, seeing their 'Rawsagne' pictures all over instagram, but unfortunately that day they ran out. BUT, it gave me the option to try out some drool-worthy other dishes instead.
My friend and I opted for one cooked and one raw main.
The Tofu Katsu was soooo good, the tofu really hits the spot, and you really don't feel like you're missing out on meat. The sauce was still very flavoursome, but a much better option than your usual high sodium tomato sauces and high fat mayo's.
The Raw Kelp Pad Thai was especially refreshing for a summer night out! I would've liked a bit more flavour, but it had a lovely sort of noodle salad texture.
And of course, we had to get dessert...
I'm addicted to raspberry and a lover of white chocolate, so the Raspberry White Chocolate Cheesecake was no brainer for me. Both cakes were very rich in flavour and texture, but you didn't get that sort of like "ooof" feeling (like you do after eating a usual creamy cake).
Another happy, un-bloating, light, refreshing but definitely very filling vegan meal on Brunswick St !
