Vegie Bar
380 Brunswick Street, Fitzroy
"Food for the mind, body and soul"
And boy did their food definitely suit the tagline!
Now I know what you're thinking, "VEGIE bar". Ew. Do I like just eat vegies?
Yes, I used to think that too, back in high school when people asked me to go and I was like "PUH-lease, I'll be here eating my KFC drumstick". But I was wrong.
I went with my vegetarian friend and she got a rich, flavoursome curry with a coffee and I dared to try the raw vegan tacos and a berry smoothie. In short, it was like a New Year's Eve party for my tastebuds.
I usually don't finish my food at restaurants, but I ate every last scrap of it. It was so refreshing and perfect for a hot summers day. I didn't feel bloated or tired out (like I usually do from eating out) and it tasted AMAZING. My body was definitely thanking me for the choice my mind had made.
They have a lot of raw vegan options but also lovely cooked meals with meat replacements, and coming from a former carnivore, you won't even notice the lack of meat. Seriously.
It's a great place to accompany your vego friend to, cos they're always making allowances and eating where everyone eats to not make a fuss, but why not go try out their side of the town, where the sun shines in sunny Fitzroy and the food tastes divine.
They also stock raw vegan guilt free cakes by the way...
I cannot stress enough, always try new foods and order dishes that you can't even pronounce the name of! And definitely give this place a go. Rarely do you see restaurants dedicated to NOURISHING our bodies instead of just feeding our mouths.
