Santorini awaits you !

Imerovigli

Santorini is made up of three parts, Fira, Imerovigli and Oia (respectively).
Fira is the town centre, where all the amazing shopping, restaurants and nightlife are. Imerovigli are where the hotels are situated and which make up the beautiful 'cityscape' views of Santorini. Oia, is known for its blue dome churches and sunsets.

Fira is about a 20 minute walk from Imerovigli, so I would recommend staying in Fira if you want to be in the centre of everything. However, if you want a beautiful sea view and have pool's on the side of the hills, stay in Imerovigli.

However, asides from the lovely hotels, and the odd convenience store and small restaurant, there isn't anything else in this area.

The Hotel

I booked On The Rocks in Imerovigli and I'm not sure if I would recommend it.
It was a lovely cave style room, nothing I have ever stayed in before, beautifully designed and had AMAZING views. Everyone had a sea view. But the service wasn't up to the standard as we personally thought it should be. Our TV was broken upon arrival and it took them 2 days to fix it, and by then we were already almost on our way out. The hotel pool ran out of towels as well so we had to bring our own, and they would get our breakfast order wrong. These may seem like minor issues, but when you're paying almost $500 a night to stay at a hotel, you want what you pay for.

We did get major hotel envy of the other hotel pools, as they were the infinity style and they were on the edge of the hills and connected straight to the view of the sea. This hotel pool was small and was behind the decking in a 'cave like' style, nothing interesting it was just white walls and concave haha.
There definitely are a lot more amazing hotels with better pools, so do take a peak around TripAdvisor for other hotels in the area :)

Oía

I personally do not recommend Oia. Also it isn't read OY-AH, it's EEA HAHAHA.

You can take the bus to Oia which takes about 30 minutes from Fira Town, but it is generally PACKED and comes every 30 minutes or so. If you do not come with a tour group, you will NOT get a nice spot for the sunset. The best spots to watch the sunset's from are reserved for tour buses.
The shopping is more on the arts and crafts side and souvenirs. The market shopping is MUCH better in Fira Town. There's honestly not much to do in Oia, we planned on spending the whole day there and watching the sunset at night, but was bored after 2 hours so we went back to Fira Town haha.
Either way, the sunset looks the same from Fira and Imerovigli !

The Beaches

Black Beach

Red Beach

The White Domes

Risked our lives taking these photos. The amount of times we were told off on this trip for climbing roofs to get a good picture hahaha. But it was so worth it!
My only goal for Santorini was to get a picture on a dome. After I ran on and took these unforgettable pictures, little did I know, I had started a revolution. Everyone started going on them to take photos, and the lady couldn't even be bothered to tell us off anymore haha.

Thus concludes my Greek Week holiday of a lifetime.
We did stay one more night in Crete, but that was more of a MAJOR FAIL, we didn't plan properly and didn't have ample time. So we just stayed next to the airport and bought souvenirs, that's it.

I highly recommend going to Greece. The people there are SO nice, especially being of Asian descent , we get picked on and made fun of a lot and people always shout NIHAO or KONNICHIWA at me. Even the young lads were so nice and helpful, the restaurants often gave you free drinks and desserts and all the shop assistants were truly interested in you and your trip and where you came from and weren't just trying to make money from you.
I will definitely be back to explore more of your islands Greece.
It's a good holiday for a romantic couple, a boys trip, a girls trip, or a bestie's trip. But definitely go with someone cos you can share all your amazing experiences with !

I logged this entire trip, and separated them into their respective islands.

Lots of love and oppa !
