On our way back to London from Paris, we decided to do a stopover in Amsterdam!

(We should have gone from London - Amsterdam - Paris - Brussels but we messed up our itinerary,

we had to go back through Brussels on the way back to London anyway bleurgh)

A city full of modern art, you'll find heaps of exhibitions here amongst the traditional dutch buildings.

If you look close enough, you will see 'hoists' or hooks at the top of each building. 

Back in the days, these were used to hook in furniture from the bottom to the top, as the dutch buildings are so tall and narrow!

We travelled through the city via boat tour on their lovely canals. 

Quite slow paced, so I suggest you rent a bike if you're more of speedy one. 

Fun fact, the canals in Amsterdam are three metres deep, made up of one metre of mud, one metre of water, and one meter of bikes.

YES there are THAT many bikes in Amsterdam, almost died so many times via bike collision, they ride crazy!

 

Last stop was The Heineken Experience, which to be honest, was quite boring but you know, boys will be boys.

It is basically a factory tour, you do not actually get to see beer being made, that showcases a lot of history and does give you a lot of energy.
Your ticket does come with 2 free beers that you get to drink on the Heineken Rooftop, which was a lovely way to end the day.

Oh, yes we did go to the sex museum HAHA. It is more or less a little museum with an entry fee of 4 euros, and that is exactly how much you will be getting out of out. Plastered all over with photos of 'sex' from private donors, it's a cheeky little laugh, that was definitely more historical and informative than what you think it would be.

We also checked out the infamous red light district, and it is VERY different and distinctive. (Not that I've been to any other red light districts LOL)

There are 'sex shows' for around 50 euros that are must-sees for tourists. Definitely more on the comedy side than the sexy side. And no, it is not full of old sweaty middle aged men, it is mostly dominated by couples and young groups of tourists. Definitely will bring way too many giggles hehe.
