bonjour brussels

Location: Brussels, Belgium
Brussels is a city that has never actually come across my travel radar - I didn't even know what country it was in truth be told. It's in Belgium by the way. The only knowledge I had of Belgium prior to this trip was that Guylian seashell chocolates are from here, and the Belgium mussel pots and waffles.
And that's exactly what this trip revolved around. Food.

CAN. NOT. GET. ENOUGH. Of these mussel pots. We had one every single day.
My favorite sauce is the garlic and cream one. Paired with a plate of french fries (actually originally from Belgium) it was just heaven. I didn't actually eat mussels prior to this trip, now I can eat them everyday.

Trip details and itinerary down below!

We stayed at 9Hotel Central and as the name suggests, it was very central. 5-10 minute walk to everything, the train station, the monuments, Grand Place, etc. etc. The hotel itself is quite a simple and minimalistic design, with lots of wood, big mirrors, white rooms with little red accents.

On our first night we ventured into Grand Place, which is basically tourist central and city central and is definitely WELL DESERVED.
Look how gorgeous it is, it was like a fairytale.
We went just after Christmas so the Christmas markets were all still in full force. Also, Bright Brussels - a light show, was on throughout the city, and Grand Place had a DJ playsuit made especially for the light show and projected lights all over the gorgeous buildings.
Everyone surrounded the glorious huge Christmas tree and danced around, it was so magical!

River Island Coat, Burberry Scarf, H&M Hat, Zara Boots

The next day we just walked around the city, it is quite a small city but the buildings are very grand.
The people here were actually SO lovely. They all spoke English and French so we had no language barrier problems. I tried my best to practice my (very) broken French and they were all very patient and waited for me to understand them fully and slowly explain things to me.
Fell in amour with this city a little bit, but a weekend here was just enough!

Je t'adore Bruxelles!
